About location
Sport Works operates several projects, each designed for niche groups of children and adults and funded mainly via Local Authorities, Schools and the NHS. Our work comprises of both specialist sports coaching projects and educational work for disadvantaged groups.
Our team of highly qualified Tutors and Sports Coaches live and breathe the ‘Philosophy of Excellence’ to ensure that they utilise sport as a means of developing positive attitudes towards healthy lifestyles and education.

He is a sports fanatic, a particularly passionate supporter of all things rugby being a Referee and Treasurer at Warrington Rugby Union Football Club. Gary holds an International Performance Coaches licence and is a qualified tutor and assessor with the British Gymnastics Association. A former International Gymnastic coach and judge, Gary is now using his vast knowledge to underpin the educational needs of gymnastics

Mel is a highly experienced teacher with over 20 years’ experience in secondary and primary education specialising in PE, Dance and Performing Arts. During her extremely successful career Mel has been a Head of Department and Faculty as well as SSCO offering CPD to primary school staff in terms of PE delivery, evaluation and planning.

Gemma completed her PGCE in 2007 and worked for 8 years in a school in Reading progressing to Head of PE. Most recently Gemma’s role included being School Sport Co-ordinator where she was required to carry out PE CPD to local primary school teachers, she is also a qualified Personal Trainer and fitness fanatic.

Georgia joined Sport Works whilst studying BTec Level 3 Sports Coaching at Trafford College and has a Level 3 in Sports Leadership. She has progressed exceptionally over the years and is now in charge of our Short Breaks Contract in Trafford. Currently studying Sports Coaching at Manchester Metropolitan University, she is an active swimmer and once competed as an U20 Great Britain Triathlete triathlon.

Initially starting with Sport Works on a work placement Tom has progressed exceptionally to his current role. Currently studying BA (Hons) Physical Education at the UCFB Etihad Campus, he is a L7 Football Referee who officiates at International Level, L2 qualified in dodgeball and basketball and a qualified in mental health first aid.

Amy joined Sport Works several years ago as a volunteer whilst still at school. Subsequently at College she gained various L2 and L3 Coaching qualifications and now works as a PE Teacher at a Primary School, with a specific brief for working with pupils with SEN. Having played for Wigan Athletic for several years, Amy now signed for Morecambe FC.

Lauren is a Masters Graduate from Sheffield Hallam University for whom sport plays a huge part in her amazing recovery from spinal surgery. She is currently training in 3 sports (swimming, rock climbing and archery) with the aim of competing for her country at the next Paralympics. Lauren is an inspirational character who understands the challenges disabled people can face.

Head Coach at Cheshire Phoenix Wheelchair Basketball Club and a Paralympian with 70 Caps for GB Women’s Wheelchair Basketball. Anna is UK Coaching Disability Sports Coach of the Year 2017 and has a wealth of experience in her field.

Laura is qualified to Level 3 in dance and Level 8 in Drama. In addition to Pupil Referral Units she has worked with a number of primary and secondary schools delivering the concept of sport, activity and performing arts. Laura’s natural passion has always allowed her to motivate, encourage and build confidence within her students.

Sport Works Greater Manchester has extensive expertise in providing sport and exercise services for disabled children. Our model has been designed to improve the health and wellbeing of young people who take part while also providing an opportunity for respite for parents and carers.
