Matt Hill – Regional Director
Matt joined Sport Works in 2018 having worked for a leading sports charity for ten years. Matt oversees our regions throughout the North of England, developing new partnerships and business relationships to support more people to become physically active.
Matt has a strong background in both strategic planning and management of large projects within the sports and education sectors. A qualified teacher, Matt has extensive experience of designing, managing and delivering impactful programmes to young people, families and adults within a range of community settings.
Outside of work, Matt is a keen in sport and fitness fan and enjoys spending time with his young family.
John Newton – Regional Coordinator
John is responsible for the smooth running of programmes throughout the North East of England, including our high profile Sport England funded project. He ensures that all Sport Works’ projects are consistently meeting the needs of both participants and funders.
Before joining Sport Works John enjoyed ten-years of success within charitable foundations of both professional Football and Rugby Union clubs. John has received several Outstanding observation reports from Ofsted Inspectors for the quality of his teaching and learning. His knowledge in this area makes John a great mentor for the development and training of our regional staff.
Away from work, John is a big sports fan and enjoys spending quality time with his wife and young daughter.
Mary Mooney – Administration Support
Mary has over 30 years of experience working in both commercial and charitable organisations as an Executive Assistant / Project Coordinator. In her role with Sport Works, Mary provides administrative support to the Senior Leadership Team.
Mary graduated from the Open University in 2011 with a 2:1 BA (Hons) in Business Studies with French and holds the LCCI Diploma for Private and Executive Secretaries.
Beth Holmes – Community Development Officer
Beth is our Community Development Officer who works across various projects in the North East of England. Beth currently works on our Family Learning, Women’s Health and Disability Sport projects delivering multi-skills and wellbeing programmes.
Outside of work, Beth is a Rower/coach and spends most of her free time down at the Durham Rowing Club.
Ellie Walker – Head Coach
Ellie began working for Sport Works in April 2016 and fell in love with her job from day one. She has quickly progressed into the role of Head Coach for our disability sport sessions throughout the North East. Her role is to ensure the smooth running of our contracts throughout the region, and to support the national Sport Works network. As well as ensuring our sessions are delivered to a high standard, Ellie’s role also includes making sure that children with a wide range of additional needs are properly supported. She liaises with parents on a regular basis to ensure their child(ren) are safe and secure at our sessions.
She is currently studying towards a BA in Primary Education and her career goal of being a Primary School teacher.
