Welcome to Sport Works’ monthly newsletter, letting you know what’s been happening in our training programmes across the North East.

What’s on?

We have recently begun working with Whitley Bay High School and Sixth Form, delivering Enrichment and Sport sessions to Pre-NEET’s around their current timetable in order to boost engagement and morale within these groups. We also delivered additional Employability sessions to some of their Year 9 students to give them an insight into Employability and the world of work. They thoroughly enjoyed the sessions and we hope they have helped in their journey towards success after Education.

We have also started to work with a group of Pre-NEET’s at Heaton Manor school where we are providing in-class support to those who need it most. Subjects include English, Maths and Science and the aim here is to support students with the most critical subjects in a bid to boost engagament, attendance and success rates. So far the feedback from the students and the school has been fantastic and we hope our support helps the students achieve the best possible grades.

Our group from PALS NTLP (North Tyneside) were given the opportunity to visit New College Durham for the day to gain an insight into Further Education. Some of the group are not 100% sure on what they would like to do after school so this was a great opportunity to look around the College and discuss the different subjects with course tutors.Below are some images of the learners enjoying their College tour and some of the facilities….

In the run up to Christmas, we at Sportworks like to take a little time out to give back to the Community. This year, we decided to free up some of our coaches for the day to volunteer at local animal rescue Shelter Stray Aid. We put together a hamper of food, treats, toys and blankets for the animals and the coaches got involved with cleaning and walking the animals. We would like to thank Stray Aid for having us for the day, here are a couple of snaps..

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

From all at Sportworks, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year!
