Skills and Training
Our training programmes use the medium of sport and physical activity to develop competencies in communication, group working and leadership, all of which are structured to enhance the employment prospects of our learners. Even more, learners on a Sport Works programme gain a deep understanding of exercise, health and nutrition as part of a positive lifestyle.
Our training programmes cater for learners of all ages – whether that be a school aged student needing alternative education support or older individuals moving towards further education or employment. Often we are able to offer our programmes fully funded because of our government training contracts. Please look at our individual programmes and case studies on the right hand side of this page.

A word from our employers
Chris (Mentor) – Bowling Centre General Manager
During his time on work placement the Sport Works’ traineeship learner has had perfect timekeeping. He has had plenty of motivation and just gets on with the tasks in hand. He works to lists and programs and is developing his organisational skills and using his initiative to find tasks to complete.
Dave (Mentor) – Maintenance Technician
My assigned learner works daily in the Ten Pin Bowling area, checking equipment (whilst supervised) making sure the place is safe and clean for customers. He also completes various tasks on a daily basis. He is always very punctual and is always early for his shifts. He is very motivated, always completes his tasks and is learning new tasks on a daily basis. He is learning all about maintenance and how things operate to keep things running for the customer’s experience. In order to do this he works with a range of staff around the centre.
